Missions
The Bible itself is a book about missions. Throughout
its pages, both in the Old and New Testaments, idea
of missions and world evangelism stand clear.
In the Old
Testament, the lives of Abraham and Moses, we see the life of mission.
Other prophets such as Jonah had the missionary spirit. In
the New Testament, the call for missions is even greater. Simeon
proclaimed Jesus Christ as a light for revelation to the
Gentiles and for glory to your people After
the Gospels of Jesus, the book of Acts is
a complete story dealing with a missionary church.
The life
of the Apostle Paul shows a great life of zeal.
There can
be no doubt that evangelism and missions are central to the
teaching of the Bible. We are called to reproduce disciples.
The Great Commission is an invitation to the local church
to touch this world for God. With
the good news of Christ in our hearts, we are commanded
to penetrate new regions to communicate Gods Word
and create His community. We have taken mission trips
to Our
church supports several local mission outreaches.
The first
is a monthly homeless missions emphasis, where members
of the church have taken upon themselves, in
cooperation with other churches, to go into downtown They
believe in Jesus words, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers of mine, you did for me (Matt. 25:40).
Youth and adults have participated.
Each month meals
are prepared and taken to people in the city. Witnessing
and singing are a part of the evening.
It has become
a event which has opened the eyes of the congregation
to the world. Second, a
missions outreach to children
is presented every weekend in our local community. Child
evangelism at a coffee house has been successful. Through
tracts, recreation, and prayer, children who have unstructured
home lives are ministered to in New Kensington. Today, we are taking a strategic and planned direction. Focused
prayer and study is being implemented in TUCCs missions
ministry. Our missions will
involve sacrifice and commitment.
A servants heart will motivate our missions thrust.
Missions is a way of life for us.
As twenty- first
century missionaries, we must become people who
care for the lost world around them.
Our core value of missions
will pull the congregation together for a world that is seeking the saving message of Jesus Christ. KATRINA MISSION TRIP to Sabine Texas and western Louisiana February 27-March 5, 2006. Each year members and friends of Trinity give up their vacations to travel to mission fields abroad. Their purpose? To follow Jesus direction for our lives to "Go, and make disciples of all the nations." (Matthew 28:19). In the process they are fulfilling the purpose of Trinity Church. The impact of a short-term missions experience has changed many lives at Trinity. The trips go far beyond our own expectations. God can use anyone who is willing to be used. Every day and everywhere is a mission field. This year, we are traveling to Sabine, Texas. In the eastern gulf coast side of Texas. It is a community which need our help and attention. Already, donations from the congregation are coming in and members of the church are planning to travel to Texas at the end of February 2006. If you would like information on being a part of the trip, please contact us at the web page or email, Bill Richardson at billedge@juno.com Be blessed, as you go on God's mission to reach, touch and bless people in Jesus Name!! |
