Simon the Zealot and
Judas
Judas:
Now that everyone is gone, let’s talk Simon.
Simon:
Sure, what do you want to talk about?
**Pour a cup of water
for each other at the table we are sitting at
Judas:
You know we’ve been following him for three years and nothing has
happened yet. He says he’s the
Messiah--so when is he going to overthrow the Romans and get them off our back?
Simon:
(Say something about Simon Peter dropping nets and following Jesus and
Simon is a rebel).
You know, I used to believe
the way you did, too. But I’m
changing the way I’m looking at Jesus. It
doesn’t sound like he wants to be a king or monarch?
Remember when he said,
“His kingdom is not from
this world.”
Judas:
Yes, but I’m not buying it. The
Romans have pushed us around for too long. You
know how our people just want our lives back.
They want freedom.
Simon:
But Jesus said, “true freedom” is in having a relationship with
Jesus. Remember he said, “Whom the
Son sets you free, is free
indeed.”
Judas:
I don’t know. It sounds
like a bunch of platitudes and pious sayings.
Simon, whatever happened to your enthusiasm?
You know, you are Simon the Zealot, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus
of Nazareth.
Simon:
To tell you the truth, Judas, I’m
changing. I never thought that I
would be saying what I’m saying but, my loyalties have changed.
Judas:
What do you mean by that?
Simon:
My enthusiasm ad faith is all into my relationship with Jesus, the
master, the Rabbi. I just want to
know more about him and learn from him.
